Washington State – Houston Match Prediction | 13-09-2019 21:15

Kyle Porter ran for a career-high 120 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries, DEriq King completed 15 of 26 passes for 139 yards and one touchdown with one interception and he added two scores on the ground. Houston bounced back from a 49-31 season-opening loss against Oklahoma with a 37-17 home win against Prairie View A&M last Saturday. Houston now has 28 straight wins against FCS-level opponents and theyre 7-0 all-time against Southwestern Athletic Conference opponents.

He can also throw on the run, which creates a double threat for a defense that has not been tested yet. Houston should challenge Washington States defense with their two primary offensive weapons in senior QB DEriq King and junior RB Kyle Porter. Porter is a strong RB who has twice as many carries (33) as his counterpart Borghi (17) although Borghi has more yards (162 to Porters 160). Unless Washington States defense adjusts, Houston will expose their weaknesses rather quickly, especially in the run game. King is quick on his feet and ran for three TDs last week alone.

Washington State is 10-1 SU in its last 11 matches and 11-1 SU in its last 11 matches played in September. Their win against Northern Colorado was not as suave compared to New Mexico as Gordon had his first blocked pass, two drops, and missed tackles in the game. The team currently has an average of 40.3 points per game while allowing other teams to score at an average of 21.8 points per game. QB Anthony Gordon lobbed for 11.9 yards per pass for 464 yards with 4 touchdowns. The No. 22 Washington State Cougars posted its second victory against the Bears making a statement with their offense.

Gordon already has nine TD passes in the first two games along with over 884 yards on 60 of 74 passing. Borghi is arguably the most underrated back in the Pac 12 if not the countryhe has speed, toughness, and great hands as a receiver out of the backfield. Washington State has 7 of 8 receivers returning from last years roster and Sophomore RB Max Borghi who is basically Christian McCaffery in disguise. He hasnt been tested yet as the offense has reached the endzone nearly every time they have been in the RedZone, but the expectation is Coach Leach will have plenty of confidence in his kicker. Washington State kicker, Blake Mazza proved to be solid last season by knocking down clutch FGs including a game-winner at Stanford. WSU continues to run the Air-Raid offense with QB Anthony Gordon, so far picking up where Gardner Minshew left off last season. WSUs offense is a solid reason to take the OVER in this gamethey flat out light up the scoreboardusually!

Overall, the Cougars had a total of 20 1st downs and they totaled 5 penalties for 60 yards which tells us that they had an average outing in terms of discipline. The offense is putting up points at 34 per game, but the Cougars are averaging just 394 yards per game. Running back Kyle Porter is leading the ground attack with 160 yards and a touchdown. Houston is struggling defensively thus far, giving up 33 points and 502 yards per game. Quarterback DEriq King has thrown for 306 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 102 yards and three more scores.

This may be at the home of the Texans, but it will still be a pro-Houston crowd. Now the Cougars go on the road to face Houston. Washington States defense isnt soft either. Washington State is bound to have some road struggles and score less than what it has. State has been strong since the 2018 season on that side of the ball and I think they will give Houston some issues. The Houston Cougars struggled at Oklahoma, but the offense hasnt looked quite as powerful as it has in past seasons. I like the under to hit with this lofty totals. Washington State has looked like a juggernaut in two games against cake opponents at home.
